Abstract:

The purpose of this application, under Articles 23.9.3 and 81.2.3 of the Code, is to conserve the name Prionocerus bicolor Redtenbacher, 1868 for a common species of soft-winged flower beetle (Cleroidea, Prionoceridae) by giving it precedence over the unused older name P. pertii Laporte de Castelnau, 1836 whenever these names are considered to be synonyms.

The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature has conserved the specific name Prionocerus bicolor Redtenbacher, 1868 for a species of soft-winged flower beetle (Cleroidea, Prionoceridae) by giving it precedence over its senior subjective synonym Prionocerus pertii Laporte, 1836.
