The English and French versions of the Code hold equal authority. There are a few points where linguistic differences cause a problem in determining the authoritative meaning of these two versions.
The Code has also been translated into Spanish, German, Russian, Japanese, Chinese—traditional and simplified, Czech, Ukrainian, Catalan and Greek (introduction only). These are variously available in a PDF format through the ICZN or sponsoring society websites, or in a hard-copy format for purchase.
