As defined in Article 79 of the The International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, the List of Available Names in Zoology (LAN) is "an inventory of names with specific scope in time and content, presented and approved in parts, and constituted as a cumulative index of names available for use in zoological nomenclature." (Alonso-Zarazaga et al., 2016) Below are the committees involved in the development of the procedures and Parts of the LAN.

Remit: to develop a generalised protocol and guidelines for submission of names to be considered for entry onto the LAN
This Committee has finished its task: the result is the ‘Manual for proposing a Part of the List of Available Names in Zoology’.
Chair: Daphne Fautin
Members: David Patterson, Thomas Pape, and Hongzhang Zhou
Remit: to develop the specific protocol and guidelines for submission of names to be considered for entry onto the test case candidate part for the List of Available Names for rotifer species-group taxa
This Committee has finished its task, the result are both Candidate Parts of the List of Available Names in Zoology: Phylum Rotifera.
