Abstract:

The validity of Laevicaulis Simroth, 1913 as the objective senior synonym of Eleutherocaulis Simroth, 1913, both published simultaneously in a complex and confusing work as genus-group names for veronicellid slugs, is confirmed. The type species, in both cases by subsequent designation, is Vaginulus comorensis Fischer, 1883, a junior synonym of Vaginulus alte Férussac, 1822, now Laevicaulis alte, a widespread tropical and subtropical invasive species.
