Hong-zhang Zhou’s main research interests are the systematics, phylogenetics and evolution of Coleoptera as well as insects biological diversity and conservation, and he has a long term interest in zoological nomenclature.

Summary of Research & Education:

Hong-zhang Zhou completed his PhD in Köln in Germany and then returned to China where he took a position at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. 

He is an editor for several journals (Insect Science, Acta Zootaxonomica Sinica, Fauna of China, Chinese Biodiversity, Journal of Plant Ecology - Chinese Version) and a member of the Entomological Society of China, the Coleopterists Society and the Entomological Society of America.

Hong-zhang Zhou is currently Professor and Deputy Director of Key Laboratory of Zoological Systematics and Evolution at the Institute of Zoology – the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing.
