Abstract:

The purpose of this application, under Article 75 of the Code, is to conserve the usage of the specific name of the staphylinid Xantholinus gracilis Sperk, 1835 (currently Scopaeus gracilis). The holotype of Xantholinus gracilis is lost and the originally published characters differ from those of Scopaeus gracilis as currently understood. It is proposed that a neotype that is in accord with the current use of the name be designated.
