Nigel Robinson heads the York, UK office of Thomson Reuters as Director of Operations, including the production and development of Zoological Record and associated nomenclatural information services .

He graduated from Reading University with a BSc Hons degree in Zoology, and since then has worked for the Zoological Society of London, and later, BIOSIS UK, as an indexer producing the Zoological Record database. He went on to become the Zoological Record Product Manager, and manager of customer
support and training for all BIOSIS services internationally outside USA, running the BIOSIS European Help Desk, and carrying out training on all BIOSIS databases. Following the acquisition of BIOSIS by Thomson in 2004 (now Thomson Reuters, following the merger of Thomson and Reuters in 2008), he is now responsible for all aspects of the Zoological Record operation.

In addition, he is responsible for the open access websites, the Index to
Organism Names (providing free taxonomic name information based on occurrences in the literature cited in Zoological Record and other Thomson Reuters services), and BiologyBrowser (a free index to web resources and data sets).
