We wish to support the petition by Jack Frazier. We strongly recommend that Testudo gigantea be
used to refer to the Aldabra Giant Tortoise. We note that this is the
name Gazetted by the Seychelles Government in ‘Wild Animals (Giant Land
Tortoises) Protection (Amendment) Regulations (1999. S.I. 39 of 1999)’.
