I am writing to support the application of Lucas et al. (2007) (Case 3420) to conserve the long- and widely-used name of the Triassic amphibian BuettneriaCase, 1922. This name is a homonym of a little-used name of an insect (Buettneria Karsch, 1888), and abandoning it would destabilise the nomenclature of this amphibian group. To serve the stability and universality of zoological nomenclature, the name Buettneria Karsch, 1888 should be suppressed, and the name Buettneria Case, 1922 should be conserved.
